I needed copying and scanning. It does this. I am using it at home and did not need large volume printing. The one bad flaw is that there is no bypass for envelopes. I foolishly assumed that all laser printers had this. To do an envelope, one has to remove all the paper and slide the guides together. Even then I have never been able to make even one envelope print straight. Fortunately, we have a second laser printer in the house with an appropriate bypass for envelopes. If I could choose again, I would definitely not buy this one, but would keep looking and probably pay more.

Bought this after thorough shopping of competitors, and am happy to have done so. Sleep mode’s nicely quiet, but the machine wakes up quickly for printing or copying. Scan and print quality are quite good. Network connection works easily and provides full setup of the printer via its own Web page (use the printer’s IP address as the URL). Small gripe: the buttons at upper right are not labeled, and the raised icons on them are the same matte black as the buttons themselves, so you must press the Start button to bet illumination to tell which button is which.

I’ve had this printer for almost four years. It does the job and I was satisfied with it in the beginning. For the last year it keeps losing connection and I have to restart. Also it will not wake up from sleep mode when I airprint half the time and I have to physically walk over and push buttons to wake it up.
The display is very hard to read and I sometimes use my phone flash light to read it.
When it runs out of paper, you cannot just add paper. You have to add paper and open the top assembly and shut it again before it will recognize the paper.

Given that the year is 2014 I would have presume you would not make a printer that is modern enough to do wired and wireless networking both, yet refuses to scan by sending an E-Mail. That’s a purely artificial limitation of the product designed to make people buy something that costs more.
It’s probably my fault (unless I really did see a claim that it did support this); but regardless this is extremely aggravating and is such a useless cripling feature that clearly has no technical reason behind it.
Scanning is only supported “to PC”; meaning you need customer software and hope that you run a supported operating system.
Another annoyance is that the user guide contains zero information on how to set it up using Google Cloud Print despite it being advertised as supported. It does work, but after setting up networking you need to point your browser to the printer. After a while you realize you can log into the interface. After more time you find information in the documentation about a default username/password, and so you log in. After half an hour you find where to actually connect it to Google Cloud Print.

The printer is nice and small for a laser printer and fits well on a corner of my desk. The build of the printer seems pretty cheap and flimsy, though, and I won’t be surprised if it doesn’t last a long time – though given the relatively inexpensive price, perhaps I should not have expected a more robust printer. The printer was pretty easy to install on my Mac, but the tiny, dim LED command screen is a nuisance to try to read.

So far The Dell B1165nfw Laser Multifunction Monochrome Printer works fine, prints fast, scans are very good. All my computers recognize the device and only one had a problem with the print manager but that was easy to solve with simple workaround. I can definitely recommend this product.

I haven’t used the printer enough to give it a thorough review, however it prints well, is fast, and has a lot of features for the price. I needed this to be set up as a Google Cloud Print printer because the the only computer in the household it is being used in is a Google Chromebook. The documentation provided (no hardcopy, just a PDF version on disk) is unclear, and eventually you get to Dell’s instruction page for using the printer with Google Cloud Print which is also unclear.
The first task during installation that turned out somewhat of a problem was getting the printer recognized as a network printer. As with other brands of network printers, there are a few ways of doing this. The “easier” ways did not work for me even though the printer did manage to find the wireless network on its own. I had to resort to wiring the printer via USB to a Windows (8) computer and running the setup software available on Dell’s website (the setup software provided on the disk may have possibly worked too, but it was unclear if Dell’s website had an updated firmware and software version stated as being required by the documentation).
Then, it seems simple and would be with clearer documentation, but the next challenge was to get the Google Chromebook to recognize the printer. It’s buried in the documentation, and it would have been a lot easier to find if I had a hardcopy version of the documentation. You need to type the IP address of the printer into the Chromebook browser URL field. You should have gotten the IP address of the printer during the wireless network printer setup. That address brings you to a webpage belonging to the printer you just installed, complete with intuitive tabs and fields that will get the printer configured as a Google Cloud Print device.
This is one of the few affordable Google Cloud Print ready laser printers with multiple functions. I would have given it 5 stars as such if it came with clearer documentation about how to set it up for use as a Google Cloud Printer.
